What is Warm Sounding?

Do you know when something sounds true, but you’re not sure why? You might even ask yourself ‘how is it I know this?’ especially if it is something you might have never heard before. In the record playing / audio hi-fidelity world, the idea of enjoying music that sounds ‘warm’ has been a topic for the ages. If you are listening to music and have turned the bass up and mids and treble down just a little, you probably like your music played ‘warm'. When reducing middle frequencies, and some treble frequencies, the music can sound more cozy, and less harsh rather than a flat equalization that gives each frequency its full amount. A flat frequency spectrum can be suitable for a more accurate, and critical listening experience, but is probably not the preferred way for most ears.

Apart from the audio analogies, I completely resonated with the fact that a sound could be described with a temperature and those unrelated senses could blend beautifully and understandably. This is how I perceive life… being full of paradox, coexisting with strange partners, winding paths that lead to even windier ones.

With this, I present the WS Journal - a discussion about music, frequency, an exploration of audio equipment, spirituality, paradox, and winding paths.
