Warm sounding as a philosophy.
Temperature describing sound seems like an odd pairing on paper, but chances are when I say ‘warm sounding’ you already have a good idea of what I’m talking about. You may think that it sounds cozy, familiar, soothing. I love the phrase because it’s strange and familiar at once. Mainly used as an audio descriptor when the bright highs are rolled off a bit and those rich, low tones prevail - especially fitting since I grew up in an era of equalizers and loudness buttons and I loved modifying the tone profile of music to suit my ear’s desire. Music was always so moving to me, and I devoured it. All types of music, I was a young river slowly meandering through it all.
I continue to love music and like many of you would consider that it has saved me and enriched my life like no other art form. I’m now at a point in life where I’m recognizing patterns everywhere, and so ‘warm sounding’ has taken on an even deeper meaning, slowly becoming an emerging philosophy. I’ve embraced so many strange yet familiar topics as I begin the second half of life… things that I never would have considered prior. Spirituality, life force, everything as energy, the All-expansive creative source, frequency and sound blazing through my skin and cleansing every cell in my body like scrubbing bubbles. I suspect many of you are having similar awe-inspiring revelations lately and it’s totally weird, but it seemingly ‘sounds about right’… and that’s the concept of warm sounding to me.
